Chief financial officer for PBS Engineering and Environmental Inc.
Jenny Porter started working at PBS part-time during college 30 years ago. Since then, her initiative, drive and financial acumen carried her from an entry-level accounting position to becoming a senior contract administrator and controller. She joined the PBS board of directors and, in 2020, became CFO.
Her dedication to balancing financial health with a commitment to putting people first helped equip the company to weather the economic storm of 2008 and positioned PBS for rapid expansion over the past decade. Now at the high point of her career, Porter is promoting efforts to provide mentorship and facilitate others鈥 achievements.
鈥淚 forged my own career with the help of mentors. The lessons I learned during that time have been a source of wisdom and strength over the last 30 years. Now it鈥檚 my turn to create the same opportunity for others,鈥 she said.
Porter has used her unique position as CFO to invest in programs that help improve the company鈥檚 diversity and create support networks for women and people of color.
鈥淚n my time at the firm, I have seen us work through difficult economic times, as well as times of rapid expansion. But throughout it all, we鈥檝e retained our commitment to keep people and community at the core of everything we do. My goal is to keep our position strong so we can continue to provide pathways to growth for future leaders and invest in projects that support our communities,鈥 Porter said.
