Water Resource Practice Leader at David Evans and Associates (DEA) Inc.

With 21 years of experience in the industry, Julie McCaskill鈥檚 perspective and expertise have been recognized in many ways, including her selection as a DEA officer, appointment to firmwide leadership positions and assignments to serve key clients.

McCaskill takes pride that her work relieves the general population from water pollution and flooding, whether that includes creating aesthetic stormwater management facilities, designing a stream crossing or analyzing a waterway to address flooding while enhancing fish and wildlife habitat.

She is a mentor to engineers-in-training, staff embarking on their careers and professionals looking to understand more about water resources. She is a presenter of a DEA Project Manager Lunch and Learn Session about how successful project managers use discipline leads to develop and implement schedules and coordinate with the team.

McCaskill also was a leader of Aqua Athena, now part of Women Leading Water, that meets to discuss topics of interest to women in the water industry, including communication, dealing with stereotypes and amplifying each other鈥檚 voices. McCaskill presented on women鈥檚 struggle for work-life balance.

Before COVID-19, McCaskill and her husband transported food donations to Rose Haven, a day shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness.

鈥淛ulie makes time to talk with the women who are being served, whether it鈥檚 a simple 鈥榯hank you鈥� and 鈥榶ou鈥檙e welcome鈥� or a conversation. Julie says that through this experience, she, her husband and her daughters are reminded of the role each of us can play in helping others who are struggling,鈥� said her colleague, Valerie Evans.
