Katrina DayOperations manager for Hoffman Construction Company

Katrina Day worked for eight years as a project engineer before becoming an operations manager for the past decade, specializing in public-sector projects.

Day is managing some of the most complicated projects for the Port of Portland and the critical infrastructure of Portland International Airport. Among them, PDX鈥檚 $1.5 billion main terminal project, which incorporates 1,000 tons of steel in the roof alone and 2.5 million board feet of timber.

She has served on the board of ACE Mentor Program of Oregon and is involved in the Portland Workforce Alliance Youth Careers Expo as well as planning for the 鈥淐onstruction Zone.鈥 She served on the Oregon Mentors board of directors and the advisory board for a division of Education Northwest.

Outside of structured organizations, she volunteers for individual events that serve the local community such as Sand in the City, which she has been involved in for more than a decade.

鈥淜atrina really enjoys mentoring and supporting new hires and interns within Hoffman. She is passionate about providing opportunities and fostering growth within individuals to improve the industry as a whole,鈥 said Keely Newcomer, senior credit analyst at Heritage Bank NW.

鈥淪he intentionally encourages others to advocate for themselves and their peers as well as always continue to grow and learn no matter how much experience they may have. She believes we are better as a collective and actively creates opportunities for generations to learn from each other,鈥 she added.
