In addition to her responsibilities as accounting manager, Rachel Laura has taken on the leadership role in Otak鈥檚 Enterprise Resource Planning system upgrade. She noted that the upgrade is significant because the new software interface, Vantagepoint, is more intuitive and will provide a more convenient user experience once employees become accustomed to using it.

鈥淲e鈥檙e set to go live in mid-November. This is my primary focus from now until then, but I鈥檝e been looking forward to this happening for years. This new software has everything we need, and it鈥檚 a good time for Otak to make the change,鈥� she said. 鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to witnessing our efficiencies and productivity improve companywide as a result.鈥�

Senior managers have lauded Laura鈥檚 leadership skills, particularly her calmness under pressure and ability to communicate complex solutions in an easy-to-understand manner.

鈥淩achel is quite the leader, and it is only when you take the time to work with her that you realize how deeply she innately understands our organization and how it operates,鈥� said Brad Shinn, director of business development and marketing. 鈥淪he will surprise you with a perspective or insight that helps you understand an issue in a completely new way.鈥�

Laura has been involved with Parking Day events at Otak, which generate donations for local nonprofits. She has participated in Canstruction to raise money for the Oregon Food Bank. As a member of Otak鈥檚 Go Green initiative, she helped the Portland office achieve Gold-level certification through the city鈥檚 Sustainability at Work program.
