Seniye Groff has always cared about people, and her job in HR allows her to show that care while impacting the success of both employees and the business.
鈥淗R typically goes through many milestones with employees, some joyous and others that are painful.聽By being an advocate and trusted advisor, I am able to help employees through these times,鈥� she said.

In addition to leading the Training and Development, Recruitment and HR teams, Groff facilitated a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion roadmap. It focuses on recruitment, referral and internal promotion practices; equity and equality in treatment, pay, training and opportunities; charitable giving opportunities; and inclusive Fortis-hosted events.

鈥淲e are so much stronger with varied perspectives and different points of view.聽I am intrigued with how to help people that haven鈥檛 always been given a chance and a world where everyone gets what they need,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 am not na茂ve to think this will happen overnight, but I聽am very focused on making incremental changes for the greater good.鈥�

While presenting at a conference several years ago, Groff realized HR specialists were grappling with the same issues. She established a construction HR group that meets monthly to share ideas, challenges and wins.

鈥淚 also believe the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.聽Time is limited and in short supply, so when you are willing to spend time with someone to help develop their skills, you are making a huge statement that they are important and worth the investment.鈥�
