President and CEO at West Coast Business Communications (WCBC)
When Stuart McArthur鈥檚 business partner decided to retire at the end of 2018, Shirlee McArthur, his wife, stepped up to take over as president and run the company with him full-time. Since then, WCBC has grown more than 42.5 percent, is on track to earn $750,000 this year, and received a distinguished Independent Electrical Contractors of Oregon Excellence in Service award.
鈥淚 really enjoy working with our customers and learning everything I can about low voltage and running the best company I can,鈥 she said. 鈥淭here are not many low voltage companies being run by women. The industry is dominated by men, and I want to break the stereotype and show that we can run a successful company.鈥
After raising their children, McArthur went back to school to finish her education in business. She graduated from Clackamas Community College with honors last June, and is participating in a small business program run by Goldman Sachs. She will attend George Fox University next spring with the goal of earning her bachelor鈥檚 degree at the age of 48.
鈥淚 wanted to show my children that anything you want to accomplish, go after it. It鈥檚 never too late!鈥
McArthur serves on the board of directors for IEC Oregon as vice president, and is also involved on the national level through two committees in an effort to better the industry for all low voltage companies.
WCBC supports Beaverton Hoop YMCA鈥檚 e-sports program and donated the program鈥檚 gaming room and equipment.
