has awarded $7,000 to two Portland-area nonprofits during its first giving round. Bridging the Gap-Oregon received a $5,000 grant and the Oregon Society of Artists received a $2,000 grant.

鈥淕iving back to our communities is a top priority at Sundt,鈥� , Portland鈥檚 Sundt Foundation board member, said in a news release. 鈥淏oth of these organizations work continuously to improve our community and we were more than happy to contribute.鈥�

Bridging the Gap is working to implement a regional-based mobile app to help victims of sex trafficking. The app allows instant messaging between victims and organizations with the resources to assist. The grant will help fund the app launch in the Portland area for the Northwest Anti-Trafficking Coalition.

The Oregon Society of Artists introduced its Veteran鈥檚 Art Program in 2017. The program consists of classes and an exhibition each November. The program was previously grant-funded by the federal government, but the funding has ended. The grant from the Sundt Foundation will allow the nonprofit to continue to provide these classes and expand its program.

The Sundt Foundation awards quarterly grants to local Portland-area charities that support disadvantaged children and families. Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a committee of local Sundt employee-owners.

The foundation was established in 1999 as a way for employee-owners to give back to the communities in which they live and work. The organization is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees, which are matched by the company. To date, the foundation has awarded more than $11 million in donations.
