Students last week participated in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) event at Valley Catholic Middle School in Beaverton. In one session led by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, the Earth in Motion lab, students studied the tectonic forces that trigger earthquakes as well as how structures can be engineered to withstand such events. Other organizations that participated in the event were: the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Oregon State University, Intel, the Museum of Flight, Google, OHSU and Nike.
