The Willamette Water Supply Program鈥檚 $405 million water treatment plant project in Sherwood is now being tackled by Sundt Construction. The Willamette Water Supply Program is a partnership between the Tualatin Valley Water District and the cities of Hillsboro and Beaverton to build a new, seismically resilient drinking water supply system. Work on the water treatment plant began in April. Delivery of water to customers is scheduled to start in 2026.

The treatment plant is being built near the intersection of Southwest 124th Avenue and Southwest Tualatin-Sherwood Road. It will be able to treat 60 million gallons per day initially but also accommodate future expansion up to 120 million gallons per day. The state-of-the-art treatment plant will sit on 30 acres that also will see roadway improvements, setbacks and a forested overlook. The location has naturally stable geology, so the plant will be better able to withstand a catastrophic natural disaster.

As the contractor, Sundt is directing nearly 70 scopes of work to develop the project.聽Work will involve several local companies and national vendors, according to the firm.

The new treatment plant will process water in multiple steps to meet drinking water standards. This includes enhanced coagulation sedimentation, ballasted flocculation, ozonation, ultraviolet light, granulated activated carbon and sand filtration and chlorine disinfection.
