Around a year after ground was broken on a 159-unit apartment community in Southwest Washington, site work has begun on a 124-unit expansion on the property.

The South Ridge East addition, designed by Leeb Architects, is on the rise at 2112 N.E. 179th St. in Ridgefield. It will be adjacent to the larger South Ridge West.

CBRE has arranged $23.9 million in construction financing for the latest development on behalf of the property owner 鈥 a joint venture of local development firms Vance Development, Capstone Partners and equity partner Pacific Coast Capital Partners (PCCP).

South Ridge West will feature a community clubhouse, a pool and a hot tub, a fitness room, a playground and bicycle parking. There will also be scenic views of Mount St. Helens. That portion of the site will have 222 parking spots, including 96 covered spaces and eight garage spaces.

A third phase is planned for the property to gain 413 market-rate, garden-style housing units.
