Business Oregon‘s Brownfields Properties Revitalization Fund (BPRF) has forgivable loans available to reimburse private owners or operators for remediation on eligible development projects.

The loans are for 50 percent of eligible costs not to exceed $250,000 (whichever is less) incurred during brownfield remediation. Specific public benefit enhancements can increase the forgivable loan amount. The amount of a forgivable loan award varies and is determined after an application is approved.

The goal of the BPRF is to promote sustainability and encourage redevelopment in rural or distressed communities.

Project owners can apply for up to two public benefit enhancements under the BPRF. The enhancements include publicly available electric vehicle charging stations; more than four affordable housing units (or they make up 20 percent of the development); the development is in a rural, distressed area or one 20 percent below the poverty level; 50 percent of the development is dedicated to parks and/or natural areas; the development meets an unmet health need in the form of a care facility or hospital; or the property’s brownfield condition is the result of a wildfire.
