The city of Portland has accepted a $6.2 million bid from Moore Excavation Inc. for the South Portland-Burlingame Phase II Sewer Rehabilitation Rebid Project. It’s part of the Bureau of Environmental Services’ Large-Scale Sewer Rehabilitation Program.

Approximately 6,430 lineal feet of public sewer pipe around 100 years old and in poor condition will be repaired or replaced, according to a staff report. Also, crews will either repair or add about 1,000 lineal feet of service connections from the main sewer line to curbs in front of homes or businesses.

The project area is bordered by South Lowell Street to the north, South Taylors Ferry Road to the south, Interstate 5 to the west and the Willamette River to the east.

Three bids were received, and the lowest responsive bid, $6,242,177, came from MEI.

Chief Procurement Officer Biko Taylor stated during a city council meeting Wednesday that MEI will complete about 70 percent of the project. The rest will be performed by firms certified by the Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity.

Construction is scheduled to begin in May and take a year and a half to complete.
