Four companies from Oregon were among 48 recognized by the Associated General Contractors of America for the nation’s top construction safety and health programs in 2022. The association oversees the annual , which in 2023 were given during a ceremony in Las Vegas last month.
Awards were given in six different categories: building, construction management, heavy, highway and transportation, utility infrastructure, and specialty. Within each category, companies were grouped according to the number of work hours performed.
A panel of five independent safety and health professionals from within the construction industry judged finalists for the awards. For each subcategory, up to three firms were honored during the AGC national convention.
Award winners in Oregon included: Taylor Northwest LLC of Bend, first place, heavy division, under 400,000 work hours; Slayden Constructors of Stayton, first place, utility infrastructure division, under 200,000 work hours; Whitaker/Ellis Builders of Tigard, first place, specialty division, 175,000-325,000 work hours; and Mid-Valley Commercial Construction of Salem, third place, specialty division, 175,000-325,000 work hours.
