A worker was hit by a concrete truck’s pump at the Press Blocks construction site along Southwest Taylor Street in Portland on Tuesday.
Portland Fire & Rescue said the worker was at the bottom of the site when he was struck; the impact broke the protective helmet that he was wearing, Fox 12 reported.
He was awake when crews arrived, walked out of the pit, and was taken to a hospital for evaluation; he returned to work the next day, stated Kyle Warren, vice president and general manager for Turner Construction.
Construction of the second, larger phase of the Press Blocks development in the Goose Hollow neighborhood, led by general contractor Turner Construction, began this past fall. The full-block project at 1621 S.W. Taylor St. includes a 24-story high-rise with 241 apartments and a three-story, 30,000-square-foot commercial building with retail space, live-work units, and creative office space.
“Turner Construction Company has a sincere commitment to keeping people on our project sites safe,” Warren stated.
The full Press Blocks build-out is expected to take about three years to complete.
