The Oregon Housing Stability Council has approved Local Innovation and Fast Track (LIFT) awards totaling $103.5 million to 10 affordable housing developments across the state.

Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) will provide 646 additional homes with these developments for individuals and households living on low incomes. Half of the funded projects will be built in rural communities and half in urban areas.

OHCS received 23 applications seeking $221.6 million in LIFT funding – much more than was available. Special consideration was given to developments that serve communities affected by the 2020 Labor Day wildfires as well as those with a qualified culturally specific organization on the project team. Internal and external scoring committees also considered factors such as: readiness to proceed, financial viability, development capacity, service to communities of color, innovation, replicability, participation by minority-owned or woman-owned or veteran-owned businesses, use of affordable rents, and family-size units.

After careful review, recommendations were given for 10 projects. The awards are: $8.3 million to College View Apartments in Bend, $2.3 million to Depoe Bay Townhomes in Depoe Bay, $11.9 million to Estacada Apartments Phase II in Estacada, $11.3 million to Ollie Court in Eugene, $13.5 million to Pacific Flats in Phoenix, $15.3 million to Phoenix Corner in Phoenix, $15.1 million to Rand Road Affordable Housing in Hood River, $5.6 million to Rivergreen Apartments Phase II in Corvallis, $17.9 million to Gussie Belle Brown Apartments in Salem, and $2.3 million to Unicorn Bed in Portland.
