°¿°ù±ð²µ´Ç²Ô’s Land Conservation and Development Commission (LCDC) has welcomed a new commissioner, announced a new role for an existing commissioner, and recognized the contributions of two outgoing commissioners.

In September, the Oregon Senate confirmed Clatsop County Commissioner Lianne Thompson as an LCDC commissioner to represent °¿°ù±ð²µ´Ç²Ô’s coast. Her term began last month and will end May 31, 2026. Thompson will be eligible for reappointment for another four-year term.

Thompson is active in several community organizations, including a Community Emergency Response Team. She also serves in a leadership capacity with the Association of Oregon Counties and on the State Emergency Response Commission.

Legislators also confirmed Stuart Warren to represent the Willamette Valley region. He previously had represented Southern Oregon since February 2020. The Southern Oregon position is now vacant, according to the LCDC website.

Gerard Sandoval is departing the LCDC after serving a four-year term and Kaety Jacobson is leaving after starting a second term in June 2022.

The LCDC, assisted by the department, adopts state land-use goals and implements rules, assures local plan compliance with the goals, coordinates state and local planning, and oversees the coastal zone management program.

The seven commissioners are unpaid citizen volunteers appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate. Commissioners are appointed to four-year terms and may not serve for more than two full terms.
