LSW Architects has added mass-timber architect Ben Kaiser to its team as a principal.

He stepped into the role in October. He is based in LSW鈥檚 studio in downtown Vancouver, Washington.

Kaiser is the founding partner of Kaiser Group + Path Architecture, which are committed to mass-timber construction, according to their shared website. He is known for regional projects such as Carbon12 鈥� an eight-story mixed-use building in North/Northeast Portland that upon completion was the tallest one in the U.S. made of mass timber. He also led development of The Canyons 鈥� a 110,000-square-foot, mixed-use complex.

Now with more than 20 years of combined design, development and construction experience, Kaiser 鈥渨ill empower a growing array of integrated services offered by LSW that connects timeless and sustainable architecture to contemporary urban design and place making,鈥� the firm stated in a press release.

Kaiser will provide LSW increased design leadership, support ongoing business development efforts, and serve as a technical mass-timber resource for public and private clients.

Kaiser Group, a general contracting and development firm, will continue its operations, Kaiser stated in an email. Also, he will continue to lead PathHouse LLC.

鈥淲e鈥檙e all excited about PathHouse, a modular mass-timber housing producer, and its potential to impact, at scale, the housing challenges in the (Pacific Northwest),鈥� he stated.

LSW will now be responsible for the permitting and deployment of these innovative modular housing units.

Path Architecture LLC will wind down as projects in its pipeline are completed.
