Lease Crutcher Lewis has extended its lease of space in the Culver Building, on the northeast corner of Southwest 12th Avenue and Alder Street in Portland’s West End.

The general contractor currently occupies 15,500 square feet of office space across three floors but plans to expand into the building’s remaining 2,000 square feet on the ground level to accommodate recent growth.

The Culver Building, originally constructed in 1910 for industrial use, is owned by Downtown Development Group. Lease Crutcher Lewis in 2012 renovated the three-story building and performed a structural upgrade before moving in. Work included adding a third-floor penthouse, a roof deck, new glazing systems, an elevator, restrooms, and a new HVAC system. The building has a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver rating.

Nathan Sasaki, executive director of Apex Real Estate Partners, represented Lease Crutcher Lewis in lease negotiations. The lease is for more than 10 years.

Seattle-based Lease Crutcher Lewis, founded in 1886, now employs 836 people in Oregon and Washington. It is entirely employee-owned and one of only a few locally owned general contractors of its size in the Pacific Northwest. The firm has maintained a continuous presence in Portland since 1993.
