Ellen Porter

The Oregon Senate this month confirmed Ellen Porter as a member of the Land Conservation and Development Commission. Her term began on Feb. 16.

In September, Porter will be automatically appointed to a full term and then serve as the Southern Oregon representative until Sept. 30, 2028. She is currently completing the term of Commissioner Stuart Warren, who formerly represented Southern Oregon but relocated and now represents the Willamette Valley. In 2028, Porter will be eligible for reappointment to another full four-year term.

Porter has more than 25 years of experience in the environmental field, the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development stated in a press release. As an independent contractor/consultant, she has provided expertise to numerous companies in navigating environmental compliance and permitting processes. Prior to her consulting work, Porter held leadership positions at Roseburg Forest Products and Louisiana Pacific, where she promoted environmental stewardship within the wood products industry.

Porter also serves on the Roseburg City Council. She previously served on Montana鈥檚 Environmental Quality Council.

The LCDC鈥檚 mission is to promote responsible land use practices and preserve Oregon鈥檚 natural resources.

鈥淚 am honored to serve as the Southern Oregon representative on the Land Conservation and Development Commission,鈥 Porter stated in the press release. 鈥淚 look forward to working collaboratively with my fellow commissioners to advance new policies and support the well-being of Oregonians.鈥
