A grand opening for Hillsboro鈥檚 newest park, Reed鈥檚 Crossing Park, took place on Saturday. The park is now open daily from dawn to dusk.
The park, at 4065 S.E. 83rd Ave., was created via a partnership between Reed鈥檚 Crossing and the Hillsboro Parks and Recreation Department. Construction began last year.
The project team includes developer Brookfield Properties, engineer and landscape architect AKS Engineering & Forestry, and excavator Northwest Earthmovers.
The park includes a bouldering garden, a mini amphitheater, a community shelter, and a fire pit. In the northwest corner, a secluded area is protected by trees and a berm with a curved, concrete bench. Features also include swings, slides and play equipment; a reflective metal 鈥淭orus鈥 sculpture; and public restrooms, Brookfield Properties stated in an email.
The total project cost was approximately $2.1 million.
The park is adjacent to nine acres of open space featuring gardens and kitchens for Reed鈥檚 Crossing residents as well as dog parks and walking paths.
