Chris McLaughlin, vice president and partner at Perlo Construction, has had a profound impact on the construction industry throughout his 32-year career, with 30 years dedicated to Perlo. His leadership and expertise in preconstruction services have made him a trusted adviser and strategic partner to clients and colleagues alike.

In 2019, McLaughlin was promoted to vice president of Preconstruction at Perlo, and in 2022 he joined the ownership team as a partner. Under his leadership, Perlo has seen tremendous growth, particularly in preconstruction services. What was once a standalone function has now become a robust and collaborative team, setting the stage for continued success.

McLaughlin’s commitment to the AEC industry is evident through his role in shaping company culture and developing talent. He spearheaded the training of two estimators into senior leadership positions and initiated the annual Trade Partners Appreciation Breakfast, which has now become a 10-year tradition. He also publishes the highly anticipated Cost Trends Booklet for the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Oregon chapter.

Outside of Perlo, McLaughlin is deeply involved in the community. He is an active member of several organizations, including the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association Oregon chapter, the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), the Columbia Corridor Association and the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and is a current board member of the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce. He also volunteers with Perlo’s internal philanthropy program, Perlo Cares, and has established a scholarship foundation in honor of his late parents to support Heppner High School students pursuing higher education in Oregon.

McLaughlin’s leadership extends beyond the office through his mentorship and team-building efforts, as well as his commitment to providing guidance to clients and colleagues. His influence is widely recognized throughout the AEC industry, where he is known as a trusted advisor and leader in preconstruction.
