With more than three decades of experience, Matt Hickey has established himself as a leader in reservoir design and municipal engineering. As the Technical Practice Leader for Reservoirs at Consor, Hickey has been instrumental in advancing the company鈥檚 water infrastructure expertise, leaving a lasting impact on communities throughout the Western United States.

During his 30-year tenure at Consor, Hickey has contributed to more than 200 projects, including elevated steel tanks that serve as local landmarks and buried concrete reservoirs topped with parks and recreational facilities. His innovative designs have provided more than 150 million gallons of drinking water storage to nearly 100 communities across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Hickey鈥檚 leadership extends beyond his project work. From 2013 to 2019, as Consor鈥檚 Technical Services director and chief engineer, he spearheaded initiatives to enhance technical expertise and quality management, including the development of design standards, quality assurance programs, and training opportunities. His commitment to mentorship continues to shape the next generation of engineers, fostering independence and technical growth among staff.

Hickey鈥檚 dedication to advancing the water infrastructure industry also is evident in his decade-long service on the National AWWA Standards Committee for Welded Carbon Steel and Composite Water Storage Tanks (AWWA D100). His contributions to national design standards have strengthened the safety and reliability of water storage systems nationwide.

Hickey鈥檚 colleagues describe him as a problem-solver with precision and ingenuity.

鈥淢att Hickey is like Harvey Keitel鈥檚 character, 鈥楾he Wolf,鈥 in Pulp Fiction. He鈥檚 the person you want in the room when a problem must be solved and it鈥檚 challenging enough to scare most everyone else,鈥 one colleague noted.
