Cathy has been with Mackenzie for over 11 years, and in the industry for nearly two decades.

Cathy has a deep portfolio of public sector projects, including a range of essential facilities like fire stations and public safety facilities. She has led Mackenzie鈥檚 education pursuits with a focus on higher education campus facilities.

She has also been deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of the department. She鈥檚 had an impactful role in recruiting emerging design professionals and helping them grow their careers at Mackenzie.

Cathy serves on the board of the Japan America Society of Oregon as chair-elect. A longtime member of the organization, she helped organize the society鈥檚 2024 national conference held in Portland. She has a diverse set of professional interests, as she has been actively involved with the Oregon Fire Chiefs Foundation for several years.

Education: University of Kentucky (bachelor鈥檚)

If you had not chosen your current profession, what profession would you choose and why? Either a construction project manager or a teacher. I personally love the field of construction and shaping the built environment. My second passion is to always learn, grow in knowledge, and be curious.聽Whether it鈥檚 teaching young kids and shaping their minds or just helping them to be curious or teens learning to navigate what they want for their future, I want to be there to help foster and shape them to be successful adults.

What was a recent (or favorite) vacation you took? My most recent vacation was a trip to Hawaii.聽Some relaxing time with family on a beautiful beach.

What do you do when you want to relax? In the winter, I relax in front of the fireplace with a hot drink and good book. In the summer or when the weather is nice, I enjoy being outdoors and exploring new places.
