HMC Architects, a nationally recognized firm specializing in education, health care, and civic design, has acquired Pacific Northwest firm Bassetti Architects.

Bassetti Architects, in business for 78 years, has design expertise in PreK-12 schools, higher education facilities, and civic projects. The company is headquartered in Seattle and has an office in Portland, according to LinkedIn.

This deal brings together two firms committed to serving communities and enhancing the built environment through design, positioning HMC to deliver a broader array of services to clients throughout the Western U.S., a press release states. HMC is based in Ontario, California, but also has offices in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and Sacramento.

The heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to creating designs that serve the greater good, according to the press release. Bassetti focuses on designing spaces that inspire learning and connection while HMC has a Design for Good ethos, which prioritizes sustainability, equity, and well-being, the press release states. The firm aims to create spaces that enrich communities and drive meaningful changes.

Bassetti Architects is also recognized as a leader in sustainable design, particularly for its innovative use of mass timber in educational and civic projects. Integration of Bassetti’s expertise in mass timber will allow HMC to further its sustainability goals and support California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s plan to accelerate green construction and reduce the state’s carbon footprint, HMC states.
