Michael Mannheimer serves as director of social media at Amico, a strategic communications and public relations firm, where he has spent the past four years leading digital engagement for major infrastructure projects in the Pacific Northwest.
For nearly 15 years, Mannheimer has worked in strategic communication and public relations, with his recent focus centered on clients in transportation and the built environment. His expertise in digital strategy has positioned him at the forefront of public engagement for complex infrastructure initiatives.
Since joining Amico, Mannheimer has directed the social media strategy for the Interstate Bridge Replacement Program, the largest public works project in the Pacific Northwest. Under his leadership, the program has generated nearly 4 million organic social media impressions, accumulated more than 190,000 organic engagements, and achieved more than half a million video views across social platforms. His work on the project earned him two Public Relations Society of America Oregon Spotlight Awards for Social Media Content development in 2022 and 2023.
Managing weekly social media engagement for a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure project, Mannheimer maintains consistent communication with diverse audiences while navigating varied interests and opinions. His approach provides valuable insights that help guide the project toward completion, making social media one of the primary engagement platforms for the initiative.
Beyond client work, Mannheimer has strengthened Amico鈥檚 internal culture and business development. He spearheaded the creation of a community service initiative that empowers team members to select meaningful organizations for quarterly volunteer projects, building both community impact and team cohesion. His efforts in developing Amico鈥檚 social media capabilities have generated new business opportunities and enhanced the firm鈥檚 digital presence. He regularly shares industry trends and updates to keep the team informed about the evolving social media landscape.
Mannheimer maintains active community involvement through multiple channels. He has served as a board member of PRSA Oregon for three years, holding positions as communications co-chair, volunteer director and national assembly delegate. He volunteers with the Blanchet House in downtown Portland, serving meals to the city鈥檚 houseless population.
A graduate of Occidental College in 2007 with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in English and comparative literature, Mannheimer serves as an alumni ambassador for the school, participating in college interviews and mentorship programs in the Portland area.
鈥淚f the future of our society is led by a new generation of caring and grounded people like Michael, we鈥檙e in very good hands,鈥 wrote Greg Robeson, co-owner of Amico, in Mannheimer鈥檚 Phenom nomination.
