The team also included owner and developer Guardian Real Estate Services, civil engineer Humber Design Group, structural engineer IMEG, landscape architect PLACE, interior designer Tello Interiors, and general contractor LMC Construction.
Multi-Housing News honors developments, renovations, design projects, individual achievements, and more via its Excellence Awards program. The multifamily housing industry鈥檚 most innovative and impactful projects of the year are recognized in one of the program鈥檚 33 categories.
The 200-unit Slabtown Square building was completed in 2024 at 2070 N.W. Quimby St., in Portland’s Slabtown neighborhood. It features an array of residences, 11,500 square feet of active retail space, underground parking, and a 16,000-square-foot public square.
The design emphasizes transparency and connectivity, particularly on the ground floor, where expansive windows and open sightlines are intended to draw pedestrians from the sidewalk into the courtyard and retail spaces. A light, bright color palette illuminates interior spaces, creating an inviting atmosphere that extends the neighborhood鈥檚 energy into the building itself, a press release states.
