Ladd Carriage House still for sale

The Ladd Carriage House, at 1331 S.W. Broadway, was built in 1883 as a stable for William Sargent Ladd's larger estate. It was rehabbed recently and has been available for purchase for more than two years. The asking price is $1.5 million.

Crystal Hotel promises wild nights for West End

Brewpub and historic preservation company McMenamins will this year complete its newest project, the Crystal Hotel in Portland's West End. Architects tried to preserve the history of the hotel, which in the past 100 years has been an automotive parts store, a bathhouse and a nighttime hotspot.

Oregon City Bridge to shut down for 2 years

A $10.6 million project to renovate the 90-year-old Oregon City Bridge is scheduled to start Saturday. The work will shut down the bridge for up to two years, but officials hope when it's finished it will revitalize communities in Oregon City and West Linn.

Oregon City taking long overdue count of historic buildings

Oregon City this month will begin a survey of its historic properties, updating a list unchanged for nearly 30 years. At least 1,500 properties over 50 years old will be documented and possibly be made eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.

Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Center

The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Center, at 709 S.W. 15th Ave., was built in 1902 for that order of masons, but due to diminishing membership, the order decided to sell the building and look to move into a smaller space. The building has been on the market for at least four years.
