The project is part of a $125 million bond the state passed in 2008 and will increase the current pachyderm property from 1.5 to 6 acres. The Oregon Zoo recently hired SRG Partnership to help design a $50 million elephant habitat 鈥 an expansion of the existing 8,000-square-foot space on one and a half acres to slightly more than 40,000 square feet on at least six acres.
