Hyatt hotel project selected to be built on South Waterfront lot

The Portland Development Commission is entering final negotiations with developers Jack Onder, Dike Dame and Homer Williams for a $5.25 million sale of a PDC-owned South Waterfront property known as Parcel 8. The developers plan to build a six-story, Hyatt House hotel that could be ready for guests by the middle of 2015.

The Portland Development Commission is following an aggressive timeline to sell a 48,645-square-foot piece of land known as RiverPlace Parcel 8. The PDC in February issued a request for offers to purchase Parcel 8, which was last appraised at $5.17 million, and three proposals were submitted before the deadline last week.

Crews to start installing Gibbs Street bridge spans next week

Next week, crews will begin connecting the pieces of the Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge across Interstate 5. General Contractor Wildish Standard Paving Co. crews will start installing steel girders that will connect the towers on both ends of the highway starting Friday night, Nov. 4.

Footbridge over I-5 to be completed by March

Work on the $6.7 million Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge project in Portland's South Waterfront is expected to wrap up in March 2012. The 700-foot-wide bridge over Interstate 5 will include stairs and an elevator large enough to hold bicycles or wheelchairs.
