The project consists of the construction of a new, one-story, 18,189-square-foot facility for the Northwest Career & Technical Academy located at 1606 R Ave. in Anacortes, Wash. The project will include a home to a marine technology center that includes Skagit Valley College鈥檚 marine maintenance and technology program for high school and college students.

The facility will have classrooms, labs, an assembly area able to accommodate up to 140 people, administrative offices, and storage. Four main labs will be organized around a central project area. Future expansions may include a lecture/administrative building of about 4,200 square feet and a lab expansion of about 3,800 square feet.

Work on the academy is scheduled to begin Aug. 31, and be completed in 300 calendar days. Estimated cost for the project is $5.2 million.
