The city of Albany is requesting proposals for a Construction Manager/General Contractor in support of the wetlands treatment project “Talking Water Gardens at Simpson Park.”

The city, which operates the Albany-Millersburg Water Reclamation Facility, is planning construction of a wetlands treatment system to reduce the temperature of effluent prior to discharge to the Willamette River.

The facility also will incorporate some public amenities to make the wetlands accessible for viewing wildlife. Money for the project is coming from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Clean Water State Revolving Fund, and includes money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

An information forum will be conducted on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Albany City Hall, 333 Broadalbin St. S.W.
Possible interviews are scheduled to be conducted on Oct. 14, and the tentative commencement of the contract will be Oct. 26.
