A crew from works with a German crew to set up a Bauer concrete slurry machine for drilling test panels as part of the Balch Creek Consolidation Conduit project for the city of Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services. The work, which began in summer, is part of the city’s 20-year program to control combined sewer overflows. A micro-tunnel boring machine will be used to install 8,500 lineal feet of 54- and 84-inch pipe connected by five shafts in the Guild’s Lake neighborhood of Northwest Portland. The work should be completed by the end of 2011.
