Portland City Hall was constructed in 1895. The four-story building is owned and operated by the Facilities Services division of the Office of Management & Finance. There are several roof sections, which total approximately 27,240 square feet.

In February 2008 a feasibility study was performed to determine the viability of adding an eco-roof to the structure. Early this year, conceptual eco-roof designs were prepared, and a concept titled 鈥淧DX Style鈥� was selected for implementation. The Request for Proposals is for that concept to be used as the basis of design.

The City Hall鈥檚 roof is not publicly accessible, and there is no intent at this time to make it publicly accessible. Some portions of the roof are visible from spaces within the building, while others are visible from surrounding buildings.

The city of Portland is seeking proposals from qualified individuals, firms, teams or consultants to provide architecture, landscape architecture, engineering or other professional services required to install an eco-roof.

A mandatory pre-submittal meeting is scheduled for Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. at 1221 S.W. Fourth Ave. in Portland.
