The Slocum House, a remnant of a former residential section of Vancouver, Wash., was built by Charles W. Slocum and his wife, Laura. In 1966, the house was moved one block from its original site in order to save it from destruction. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and on the Clark County Heritage Register in 1985. The dining-sitting room area is now an intimate theater, where plays, readings, recitals or instrumental concerts are held.

This project consists of ADA accessibility improvements. Work will include constructing a new restroom, remodeling an existing one, renovating some door openings and providing patch and repair and new finishes – including ceramic tile and new flooring. A new exterior concrete sidewalk access also will be built.

A non-mandatory pre-bid walk-through and site visit is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m., and will be held at the Slocum House jobsite at 605 Esther St. in Vancouver. All bidders must meet the requirements of the Small Works Roster before the contract is awarded.

The estimated cost of the project is $60,000. Work is scheduled to be completed within 60 calendar days after notice to proceed is given.
