The Martha Washington Building in downtown Portland was built in 1923. Now the five-story brick building at 1115 S.W. 11th Ave. is in the early phases of an extensive renovation.

When construction is finished in June, the building will have 108 affordable housing units, nearly half of which will serve homeless and chronically mentally ill people.

The project construction team includes general contractor R&H Construction Co. and designer LRS Architects.
