The Odegaard Undergraduate Library and Learning Commons is named for the former University of Washington President Emeritus Charles Odegaard.

The Seattle library, constructed in 1972, serves as a center for undergraduate instruction, learning and technology. The library has a 100-seat multimedia room, a 400-seat learning commons, several technology spaces, a writing and research center, a 145,000-volume collection and building-wide wireless access.

Work includes extending fire sprinkler protection by approximately 115,000 square feet in an existing 150,000-square-foot, four-story basement building. A combination standpipe will be added to the northwest stair, and a standpipe will be added to two other stairways. Work will include demolition of the existing fire alarm and sprinkler system and installation of a new system. Extensive ceiling work, wall patching and painting will be required. Alternates include the addition of a standpipe in the north stair of the engineering library and sprinklers in the central stairway.

Prospective bidders will be able to conduct inspections at a pre-bid site meeting and walk-through beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Odegaard library’s first-floor lobby. Access to certain portions of the site is restricted. This will be the only opportunity for bidders to visit the project site. The project estimate is $1,130,000.
