The Gold Summit Monastery Organization operates under the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association, which is a non-profit religion organization with the purpose of bringing, sharing, and making available to everyone the orthodox teachings of the Buddha. The Gold Summit Monastery is seeking a qualified general contractor for its new building to be located on Second Avenue W and Thomas in Seattle.
The services requested of the general contractor are to provide pre-construction services that include consultation, scheduling, and cost estimating followed by a fixed-fee negotiated contract for construction under a specifically defined guaranteed maximum cost contract.
The project is the construction of a Buddhist temple including Buddha Hall (sixth level), dining hall with a commercial kitchen (1,000 square feet on fifth level), resident rooms (fourth level), parking (third level), library, gift shop, book store (second level), and a possible restaurant on the ground floor.
The building will have three levels of concrete and three levels of wood frame construction. Temple volunteers are still developing the design.
Interviews of the highest ranking firms will be completed by Jan. 26 and a general contractor will be selected by Feb. 8.
