Bid Date/Time: Jan. 13, 2010, 2 p.m.
Bid Package No. 4.2, Tile & Riser Platforms, is being rebid for the University of Oregon basketball arena project. Work includes unit pavers, ceramic tile, riser platforms and other work.
The UO Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is rapidly moving forward on the construction of the new basketball arena and is seeking in-kind donations of construction labor, materials, services or combinations to help offset the rising cost of construction.
A letter from Kurt Zimmerman, senior director of development in the UO athletics department, accompanies the project documents and states:
“A commitment to donate a gift in-kind to the project would be of significant assistance to meeting our goal of providing the best basketball arena in the country at the lowest possible cost. Donations of construction materials would need to meet project specifications. In addition, bidders should anticipate the incorporation of gifts of materials from secondary sources into their work.”
Firms that participate in the program will be eligible for all capital improvement benefits, including donor acknowledgement in the area, as well as seating opportunities for university basketball games. Gifts at the Champion ($50,000 or more) and Legacy ($1 million or more) levels will qualify businesses for special recognition in the facility as well as access to exclusive donor areas in the building.
The estimated completion date for construction of the arena is November 2010, in time for the 2010-11 basketball season.
