Blue Mountain Community College is a public, two-year community college with five educational sites in Baker, Morrow and Umatilla counties as well as two contracted out-of-district branches in Grant and Wallowa counties. For five years, BMCC has been working with the city of Hermiston, Eastern Oregon University and other organizations to establish the Eastern Oregon Higher Education Center at BMCC on land across the street from its current location in Hermiston.
The center will support expanded educational programs ranging from adult basic skills, college prep, community education, workforce training, career technical certificates, associate’s degrees, and baccalaureate, graduate and professional development programs offered by EOU and potentially other university partners.
The center will include two science laboratories, several multipurpose classrooms, a computer laboratory, offices for instructors and staff members, a reception and waiting area, a testing center, a conference room, advising and tutoring spaces, and staff support areas.
Blue Mountain Community College is requesting sealed proposals from qualified companies or individuals to provide new construction project management services. Construction will begin this summer and is expected to wrap up in July 2011. Classes would begin in September 2011.
Finalists will be interviewed on Feb. 22, and the project manager award will be announced on Feb. 24.
The project budget is $8.5 million.
