This project consists of the construction of a new, two-story, K-5 elementary school on the site of the existing Spiritridge Elementary School at 16401 S.E. 24th St. in Bellevue, Wash. The existing school will be demolished to make way for the new building. Projections are for the building to hold 480 students and 32 staff members.
The project also includes a covered play area, the redevelopment of outdoor playfields and parking areas, and improvements to the existing Early Childhood Center.
The structural system is steel columns, beams and roof joists with CMU shear walls, metal stud wall framing, concrete slab on grade for the first floor, and concrete topping slab on metal deck for the second floor. The exterior envelope includes cement board lap siding, horizontal metal siding, aluminum windows, storefront and curtain-wall systems, and metal roofs and built-up roofs.
Early Childhood Center improvements include mechanical upgrades, a new metal roof, exterior siding, additional casework, interior paint and floor finish replacement.
The start date of on-site activities is on or about July 1, and the project is scheduled to be substantially completed by July 29, 2011.
The engineer’s estimated cost of construction is $18 million.
