The Pete French Round Barn, near Burns, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The late 19th century barn was owned and constructed by cattle rancher Peter French and was used for horse training during the winter.

This project consists of providing a new roof, repairing the structural roof frame and sheathing, repairing masonry and performing minor site improvements.

The structure was constructed circa 1880, and represents design and material qualities reflective of a unique style of this time period and western location. The barn has suffered deterioration of vital elements to its structural roof stability, important weather-resistant qualities and distinguishing features over the years, including areas of the inner masonry wall, roof rafters and sheathing, and the shingle roof.

The contractor shall create a written preservation plan, describing in detail the method it intends to use in repairing the barn, including a complete description of all protective measures for historic fabric that will remain in the barn.

The project estimate for bonding purposes is $400,000 to $500,000. Final completion of the project is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2011.
