This project consists of selective HVAC replacement at the food service building on the Lakeland Village campus in Medical Lake, Wash. Lakeland Village is a state-owned facility that provides a sheltered living environment for disadvantaged adults ranging from developmentally to severely disabled.

Four kitchen range hoods will be renovated to restore function and updated to bring them into code compliance. Work includes replacement of hood washdown systems; replacement and expansion of hood fire-extinguishing systems; cleaning of ductwork, exhaust fan and related electrical and fire-alarm connections; replacement of attic access hatch/ladder assemblies; and associated work. Work will be performed from the equipment access above the ceilings without removing the ceilings.

As an alternate bid, this project also includes replacement of a failing electrical contactor. As separate alternate bids, this project also includes replacement of one, two or three motor control centers in the building.

The kitchen will remain open and food preparation activities will be adjusted while the kitchen hoods are out of commission.

The estimated cost of the project is $265,000 to $295,000; all work on the base bid and accepted alternates shall be completed within 90 days after the owner’s letter of notice to proceed.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification is not being applied to this project.
