Bid Date/Time: April 29, 2 p.m.
In April 2009, Lane Community College received a $100,000 grant from the Eugene Water & Electric Board to build a solar-powered electric-vehicle charging station to serve students and the community. The grant and other funding will pay for the project, which will provide opportunities for students to learn how to install, repair and service vehicle-charging stations. The hands-on experience will help students develop a variety of skills that can be used in careers geared toward the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The project consists of construction of a photovoltaic canopy with electric-vehicle charging stations and parking at the main campus. The project includes charging stations, a canopy structure, revised parking and paving elements, associated electrical work, and other work. Alternates include adding 9,997 watts of photovoltaics, five charging stations and a reader board.
The contract is scheduled to be awarded no later than May 17; and if so, the contractor will agree to achieve substantial completion of the project by Aug. 3.
