The Portland Development Commission on Thursday told 15 of its employees that they will be laid off at the end of June due to budget concerns, according to PDC spokesman Shawn Uhlman.

“We have had a reduction in force and pretty much every area was hit,” Uhlman said. “In the next few weeks, we will be looking at how we complete the work we have been working on. But I don’t anticipate an effect on any of our projects.”

The PDC in March forwarded its budget to the city’s Office of Management and Budget and city council, which included staffing reductions reflecting direction from Mayor Sam Adams and the PDC board.

After it loses 15 employees on June 30, Uhlman said the PDC will have a staff of 155 employees going into the fiscal year ending 2011.
