The Benton County Courthouse, at 120 N.W. Fourth St. in Corvallis, was designed by Delos D. Neer, a prominent Portland architect. He described the style as “an Italian villa with a military influence.” The cost to construct and furnish the building, which features local stone and brick, was less than $70,000 in 1889.

The building was designated as an Oregon historic site in 1968 and then remodeled in the 1970s. The building looks much the same as it did in the early years. Many authentic furnishings and architectural details have been preserved or restored. The four-story building is the oldest Oregon courthouse still used for its original purpose.

This project consists of painting the historic courthouse’s exterior. Work includes surface preparation; patching, repairing and coating of the roof system; masonry walls; woodwork; and unpainted stone work. All work will be completed by July 30.
