As a result of the responses to this Request for Qualifications, Salem-Keizer Public Schools will select qualified general contractors to bid on the construction of the new West Salem middle school and elementary school.
The middle school will be a three-story, 135,000-square-foot facility on the south end of a 47-acre new campus site. The building will be a combination of structural steel, CMU, and concrete tilt panels. This project will also include the paving of two parking lots and an asphalt play area adjacent to the school. The construction budget for the middle school is from $23 million to $26 million. The anticipated bid date is on or about Aug. 3.
The elementary school will be a two-story, 72,000-square-foot facility on the north end of a 47-acre campus site. The structure will be a combination of structural steel and CMU. This project will also include the paving of a parking lot, a bus loop, and an asphalt play area adjacent to the school. The construction budget is from $11 million to $13 million.  The anticipated bid date is on or about July 20.
The school district reserves the right to qualify general contractors based upon the responses, and may qualify a contractor for only one school, even if the contractor expressed interest in both.
Funding for the projects will come from the 2008 Capital Improvements Bond.
