This project consists of construction of a new branch library at 12901 Newcastle Way in Newcastle, Wash. The main library level is approximately 12,500 square feet and will include bookshelf areas, a reading room, a children’s area, a meeting room, restrooms, a workroom, study areas, storage space, an office, a staff-related break area with restrooms and an exterior plaza space.

A structured parking level will be located beneath the library and contain 12,800 square feet of parking, an elevator, stairs, a storm-water detention vault, and mechanical, sprinkler, telecom and electrical rooms. The project also includes surface parking and associated site development.

The building will be comprised of slab-on-grade and concrete walls at the parking level, post-tensioned flooring system at the library level, steel-truss framing system, metal-framed exterior and interior walls, steel-bar joists and metal deck. The exterior cladding will consist of brick veneer, metal panels and curtain-wall glazing system.
