The Oswego Lakefront Park project initially bid Feb. 4, and 2KG Contractors was the apparent low bidder at $1,547,000 (the project estimate was $2.2 million). However, the project is rebidding, and the engineer’s estimate is now $1,858,296.

Work consists of construction of a new urban park and includes demolition of existing pavements, curbs, decking and piling, new seawall, utilities, storm drainage, raingarden, cast-in-place concrete pavement/curbs/miscellaneous concrete work and walls, precast concrete, stone masonry stair/walls/columns, unit concrete paving, site furnishings, installation of artwork, irrigation, planting, new park structure, outdoor gas fireplace, arbor, metal guardrails/railings/handrails, wood decking, lighting and other work.

To demonstrate qualifications to perform the work, each bidder will submit statements that demonstrate recent, relevant experiences constructing similar projects.

Minimum qualifications for the various types of work are: general contracting (ability to coordinate multiple trades), shoring (design, construction, monitoring, maintenance and removal), concrete (new seawall, foundations/footings, retaining walls, paving, precast concrete, curbs, sidewalks), earthwork (rough and fine grading, excavation, filling), utilities (storm drainage, water service, lighting, sewer, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, gas, etc.), structures (framing, copper roofing, siding, arbor, fireplace), masonry (stone stairs, walls and columns, stone facing, unit paving, CMU), landscaping (planting and irrigation), and miscellaneous (site improvements, site furnishings, metal fabrication, guardrails, handrails, railings, etc.).

Final completion is scheduled for May 31, 2011.
