The Coos County Historical Society is requesting proposals from qualified individuals and firms for the purpose of obtaining owner’s representative services during the phase-one site work portion of the Coos Historical and Maritime Center. The project for purposes of the RFP consists of demolition and site preparation activity, including placement fill. It does not include construction activity. All interested applicants must meet the experience requirements outlined by the historical society.

The Coos County Historical Society, founded in 1891, is nonprofit organization supported entirely by memberships, donations, admission fees, bookstore income and grants.

The historical society has out-grown its existing 51-year-old building and is constructing a new, energy-efficient cultural center, plaza and wharf to meet its current and future needs.

The project site is a waterfront parcel located at the intersection of Nortg Bayshore Drive and Fir Street in Coos Bay. The new Coos Historical and Maritime Center complex will include the construction of a new 19,000-square-foot building that will be the “flagship” of community-based redevelopment and revitalization along the Coos Bay waterfront. The museum plaza, with outdoor exhibits, markets, festivals, and other cultural events, is expected to help redefine the waterfront and attract new visitors to the region.

Work on phase one of the project is scheduled to begin in late October and be completed by the end of December.
