The Walla Walla (Wash.) Police Department has been located in the basement of City Hall for 101 years. The department later expanded into vacated space and multiple sites outside of the building. In March 2006, City Council authorized a space needs assessment, which found the policy facility to be “significantly undersized.”

This project consists of construction of a new, single-story headquarters building with space for police administration, patrol operations, records, investigations, evidence storage/handling, interviewing and community services.

Construction will generally be concrete slab on grade, with a structural steel frame, steel joists with metal decking, rigid insulation, and a single-ply membrane. Exterior and interior finishes include brick and CMU masonry veneers with metal panel infill as well as curtain wall and storefront window systems. Mechanical work, site work and other work also is involved.

All work for the project will be completed in 14 months.
